Une oeuvre de Abu Jafar
"On My Way" as a metaphor, I am using to describe my artwork. I let the viewers find meanings of my paintings, through their experiences connect a story that is very much of their own.
One evening the very first time I took a plane to come to England 1989 from Bangladesh. Got into plain sat by the window everything is just so surreal, leaving Dhaka airport evening dusk sun is just sitting like a fire on the sky, looking through the window Dhaka slowly vanishing in the cloud mist. Nearly 18 hours long flight via Moscow it is London very early in the morning sunrise on the horizons and a new journey ahead of my life. England's new culture new people and a new language unknown territory exploring my mind...! This painting is the reflection of my experiences of two cultures in one mind like everyday sunset to sunrise and a new beginning.
It is the expression of my journey, pain, and distractions that are from past and present. This artwork all about current politics and human suffering from the war displaces and culture change.
Changing and evolving are part of life. Passing through everyday experiences, surrounding emotions, love, sorrow, and forward-thinking together I try to emulate that circle of changes into my artwork. For that reason, this artwork has taken from beginning to end, about 24 years.
“ Abu Jafar is a very energetic and gifted artist who has worked in a wide range of media, including installation/ performance as well as sculpture and painting.”
